The Deal with Callings & Purposes

One if the most trending topics among the youth of today is Finding Your Purpose. But enough with the pressure, purpose doesn't appear overnight...

Alhamdulillah, our Lord has brought to us a handful of people who are making a difference to inspire and usher in change and rejuvenation of the dreams and potential of their fellow youth. And it's working wonders. I mean the vision they bear is starting to be breathed by others. But when they are questioned on what drives their efforts, they almost always give one answer; that is their calling.

And so you find that we want to be awesome like them. We want to bring change in others. We feel like we also want to give our all through day and the late hours of the night at something that will fulfill us as individuals, and quake the lives of others with the rumbles of inspiration. But the thing is, we have no idea what our calling is; what our purpose is, you feel me?

Sasa today, I want to ask you to Stop. Calm down and relax. Chillax. Because today, I tell you that finding your purpose, doesn't happen after a half day seminar or a downloading spree of motivational videos...This is your WHOLE LIFE we're talking about here. Dedicating what's left of your destined breaths to one thing isn't a self induced Eureka moments kinda thing.

Finding your purpose is like falling in love (in the halal way obviously...I'm watching you ๐Ÿ‘€), relationships or sleep. You don't really know when it happens but after it does, you won't miss it. So something this big consumes time and takes effort.  The one shortcut you can take however, is circling out what your likes are and what comes easy to you than others; like using words in writing, public speaking, electrical circuits, travelling, and so much more.

All you have to do to find where you belong and ride the wave of your likes is by putting in your time, effort and often also money and see where the wave takes you. (PS leave the "majaaliwa mentality" kwa story za mama fatuma viazi when you start, it's rust in this iron of dreams) Because for such a life changer, you'll be sitted at home or out for a walk or even showering, when a realization will hit you, "this is what I was meant to do!" But you can't shout in the shower so calm down๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyways, so relax, take yourself on a date if you have to or drink a cup of coffee. And realize that your purpose exists outside the comforts of your home. And that it is only when you put yourself into scary situations that shake every nerve of fear and fall the leaves of doubt into your mind, that you discover who you are, and what part of this life has been written, waiting for your arrival to transcend it to the world. As a good friend once said to me, "Maisha ni kujituma" loosely translated to, True life happens to those who pursue it.

Besides, whenever you ask any of such awesome human beings on how they came to find their calling, they will always tell you of how far they came from to where they are now. And for someone who wants to change a life or two more than their own, that is a journey you have to take to finally, and ultimately, find your purpose.

Snide thought: I feel like this could've been an awesome speech but you know, with my writing voice it's kinda like I'm speaking to you...and now you're just realizing you've been listening to a voice I probably don't sound like... Mandazi๐Ÿ˜‚ Writing is awesome๐Ÿ˜‚ Just saying ๐Ÿ˜œ

Haya, go find your purpose ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’ช
