For Those Seeking Perspective

So, who are you?
I can tell you What
you are then you’ll answer the Who for
yourself.
You are your soul. And to clarify, not – part body-part soul
– but the soul on its own. The same one that Allah ﷻ has promised will taste
the textures of death, the prophet ﷺ instructed to pray with and modern science
has now dubbed it access to the quantum field which affects matter and not vice
versa.
Because why does the body die, decompose and turn to dust when your time in this world ends?
Why do you stay a period without one until judgement day
arrives?
Why are you given another one that will be altered to cater
for the experiences of your final destination?
And more importantly, why are you the only constant in all
these scenarios?
Because you are your soul, on its own. And the body is
merely an extension for you to experience this life.
No matter what you look like or what you have, these are qualities restricted only to this world and you are a being that transcends over four different ones (this world, life in the grave, judgment day and your final destination). So don’t you dare define yourself with them because you are unlimited.
The futurist ploughs on to create indestructible
invincibility and immortality through Artificial Intelligence (A.I) and the
Buddhist ignores pain and preserves youthfulness in his body with simple
meditation. Because they have both tasted the granture of how limitless we
truly are. But for them, the end is here. So don’t live chasing such limited
experiences – for you are transcendent.
Instead, realize that your body has rights over you. So feed
it when it is hungry, groom it such that it makes you happy and satisfy it in a
way it doesn’t corrupt you to such limited experiences #marry.
No wonder happy people never look ugly.
As for what you are –
the soul – is what Islam addresses. From its practices to its guidelines and
unearthly coherences. And Ramadhan is one of such practices. For its purpose is
to reconnect you with what you are; the soul.
Because the two drives that attaches one to this world and
make it worth the while i.e. the drive of the Stomach and the desire of that
which is between the thighs; are given up for a whole month. This is not for
you to suffer, however, for there would not have been rewards for the one who
delays in Suhoor (time of fasting)
and hastens eagerly at Iftaar (time
of breaking fast).
Rather, it is for you to re-shift the definition of who you
are from the limiting experiences of this world to the limitless perspective of
existence you embody, by reading from the words that come from the future – the
timeless Al-Qura’n, reconnecting with
the One ﷻ who gave this pure essence to you and emulating a man who justly
exemplified what it means to live as the true limitless being we all were made
to be, ﷺ.
So that when this month is over, you can continue living
like the Khalifah (vicegerent) you
were created to be and prepare with your decisions and actions, for the greater
experiences that lay awaiting a transcendent being such as yourself. And just
like a roller coaster ride, choosing to live from your true self or your body,
will determine whether you’ll be crying for a way off or have the time of your
life when it begins.
Ps. Rollercoasters never stop or go back after they set off.
So you now know what you are. How you chose to live from
today will answer the question of who you are. And that answer is what you’ll
step into the rollercoaster with, whether you’ll enjoy it or much more worse
otherwise.
Alas, the purpose of this holy month. For no other time, in
all the years of our lives, are we reminded so vividly and emphatically of who
we are and what our true nature entails. For this reason, is why I believe this
month to be the cornerstone of existence for Muslims, and for the human race at
large.
